Anxiety/Stress/Worry

15 Ways to Overcome Anxiety

  1. God is with you! (2 Kings 15:6) & (Hebrews 11)

  2. Obey God. (Phil. 4:6) Don't try to always figure things out. Lack of obedience brings about guilt.

  3. Pray first of all. The Bible tells us that instead of being anxious to take our fears and burdens to the Lord in prayer. We need to pray about our fears and give them over to Him. He asks us to allow Him to bear our burdens. (Phil. 4) & (James 1) & (Daniel 10:12)

  4. Remember, God will keep your mind safe. (Phil. 4:6-9) (1 Tim.1-7) We are to petition Him. If we want to lessen our burden, we need to take action to accomplish this. "You are not crazy."

  5. Stop! Relax! Make your anxiety work for you. When you have an attack, take the opportunity to pray about it. Write down the problem and decide another time to process through it. Decide you cannot change the situation.

  6. Exercise three times a week.

  7. Get at least eight hours of sleep at night. Less than eight hours can lower your serotonin.

  8. Recreation! Fun!

  9. Evaluate the reason for your anxiety. Create a plan to fix it. Implement a plan. If you cannot change the source of anxiety, try not to worry about it. If you cannot discern the source of anxiety, pray for wisdom.

  10. Live one day at a time. (role with the waves) Don't try to control everything. Let God be in control.

  11. Don't put things off until tomorrow.

  12. Fellowship. Find good Christian friends.

  13. Put a limit to your worries. Limit the time that you are going to dwell on a problem—leave it at work.

  14. Remember: You are a child of the King! He loves you. Stay close to Him. Pray, Read, Fellowship, Serve.

  15. Take time to make your request with thanksgiving. We are to present our request with thanksgiving. Why this? When you take time to thank God for what He has done for you, you begin to realize how much He loves you. Take time to thank Him for your salvation, your family, your blessings, and even your trials. (James 1 talks about this) Sometimes it helps to get your mind off of you and on the Lord. When you learn to do these things, the last part of the verse happens. The peace of God will begin to guard your heart and your mind.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Philip. 4:6-7
